Exactly. Example, if "The Wizard of Oz" was made in any other year than "Gone With The Wind", you know what would have happened. I don't think that movie's all hype. I think one of the greatest performances I've ever seen, in all my movie-experience, is Judy Garland as Dorothy and Margaret Hamilton as the Witch. Judy's haunting and mesmerizing performance will just never die, or even fail to empower, and Hamilton's Witch was not only sadistic and terrifying, but it was a great satire on world events at the time. They overcome the Wicked Witch, the world overcome Hitler and the Nazis etc. But that's just the reason why I don't think its hype and that movie didn't win anything because of "Gone With The Wind" which, incidentally, I've never seen fully and, from what I've seen, doesn't quite deserve the credit it's gotten.
