This is a little off topic but... what I think they should do is revive the original 1969 "The Dream Engine" at the Delacorte Theatre (if it still exists), the New York Shakespeare Festival or wherever Papp wanted to open it in the first place. Way off the mark, but it's nearly the 40th anniversary and "Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical" should also premiere 40 years after Jim began that project? Wouldn't it be nice if they brought it back just for the occasion? Reality is, there's probably not a hope in hell that that would happen, but a nice CD, DVD or live production -- with complete unknowns reflecting the original cast -- with a documentary to go along with it? I don't think TDE concept will work anymore, because "Bat Out Of Hell" is sort of doing the same thing but on a much grander scale. | |
