I highly doubt it. I think it's Desmond Child's feelings toward his partner, whom he mentions in the liner notes. Anyway for all Jim's wonderful qualities, his deep and abiding love for Meat Loaf is not one of them.

On a similar note, I did at one time look at Jim's songs and think "I wonder how many of these are about Meat Loaf?" Think about it this way - Jim knows that, talented as he is, he needs an avatar to vicariously live the rock life he can't, he needs a voice to sing the songs he writes. Meat Loaf, for better or worse, was the perfect vehicle for Jim's songs. Once they had their parting of the ways in the early 80s, I imagine Jim was pretty devastated and searching for a new voice

From this point of view, songs like I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back, Total Eclipse of the Heart, even Making Love Out of Nothing At All (how can Meat work with the no-talents he ran around with in the 80s?) might be viewed as cries in the dark from an artist to the Pygmalion that ran away from him.

It's also interesting that the song of reconciliation, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, was seemingly written about the time that Jim and Meat got back together to start working on Bat II.

Just a thought!
