In terms of defiantly feisty power ballads, few can beat Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse Of The Heart - and now the famous hit has been re-mixed by Sheffield electro-rockers BabyPinkStar. Originally written and produced by Meat Loaf's on-off collaborator Jim Steinman, it was released in 1983 and at its peak it sold 60,000 copies per day, reaching No 1 in a host of countries. BabyPinkStar began performing the song as an encore to their live set in early 2006. Reactions grew and it became a firm favourite among fans. When word found its way to back to Bonnie, she agreed to sing on a recording and the collaboration was completed in just one day. The new version features Bonnie's unique gravelly vocals but adds guitar riffs and disco beats, ensuring it's a club classic in the making. Bonnie said: "When I first heard it I thought, are you serious? "I kind of liked it, I sent it to Jim Steinman, he loved it and suggested they crank up the guitars." Pud | |
