I can't speak for the current run but last year's was more similar to the style of the Warsaw show than the German ones. I'm not going to call it low budget because everyone put in an awful lot of effort, and it would still have cost an awful lot of money to finance the run; but obviously far less than the money pumped into the German productions.
When you're in Budapest check out the old town and Gellert Hill. On a nice day the views from the top are breathtaking.
