I highly recommend both the show and the city. A group of us went when the show opened there, and had a great time. As Will says, the budget was obviously less than for the German shows, but the efforts they put into making the most of their budget and relatively small stage made up for that, as did the obvious enthusiasm that all the cast had.
Budapest is a beautiful city (though the theatre isn't in a nice part of it). Much of the architecture is stunning, with excellent views from the hill on the Buda side and from the river itself. Margaret Island is well worth visiting for a few hours.
