I think it was more to prove that despite Jim not working on the album in any way, Todd Rundgren was. Obviously we all know that Todds involvement with Bat3 was minimal, but it kinda gives off the impression that the original Bat Out Of Hell producer had an hand in the way the album was shaped and giving Desmond Child pointers.
That's how I saw it anyway.
