Is this going on all over??? In the UK a duty increase of 2p for petrol was planned for October. But now with the kick-off that’s gone on with the recent lorry driver strike, it has been scrapped. 2p doesn't sound a lot but I think it would have been the straw that broke the camels back!!!
Supermarkets like Tesco and Sainsbury are saying trading is hard and they are down on sales. At the other end cheaper supermarkets like Aldi, Netto and Lidl are seeing a sales increase as consumers are trying to make their cash go a little bit further.

The high street has been largely affected with many analysts predicting a recession, which will take us back to the 70's. M&S, John Lewis and many high street retailers have all put out interim statements saying trading is hard and they are seeing huge drops in their like-for-like sales. M&S even changed their management bonus scheme so that bonus could still be achieved at a fraction of the target set the previous year. I work for a large high street retailer and we are doing ok at the minute. We have had 3 years of strong growth and I think we will get to the end of the year pretty much not really affected.
Inflation is creeping to an all time high, house prices are falling, mortgage lenders are being cautious and being very strict on lending. AND with all this going on 1 of the only sectors that is seeing bit of a revival......The entertainment sector or as I like to call it 'The getting pissed and having a good time sector'. The British public are creatures of habit and when times are hard the only thing left to do is go out, get pissed, have a good night and maybe finish it off with a fight in the kebab shop. Lol!!

But to answer you question – Yes I am getting a little fed up of seeing it in every newspaper and news bulletin.

The LAST place I thought I would have seen it mentioned was here. LOL
