Yeah it's a load of shit in my opinion as to me it seems it's still just as busy on the road and in the supermarkets.

I see someone mention the 2p extra fuel duty that has been scrapped here in the UK. Perhaps making people think "yeah great, thanks mr government". I hope these people then also realise that you in fact are already paying this increase anyway through VAT.

Diesel at: 132p up from say 95p a year ago = extra 6.5p in VAT
Petrol at: 120p up from say 93p a year ago = extra 4.7p in VAT.

The Media is hugely responsible for fueling this "apparant" economy crisis. The only real thing that is happening here in the UK is the lack of available mortgages, hence not many people are buying houses at the moment. But it's really not as bad as the media is reporting in my opinion.
I blame the media for a large part of the slight slowdown.
