Really? I don't think I've ever heard a Diane Warren song that sounded like that at all. If I had to compare it to other artists I'd say it's a cross between Springsteen and Bon Jovi. I know I'd personally prefer a Desmond Child song over a Dian Warren song.
As for the song itself, there is another version that's slower and includes a few changes to the lyrics. One interestingly being a play on words in nod to Steinman's Dream Engine.
