*If* the casino venue is good, I'd choose that because you will get better acoustics and a more lively, less muddy sound. You'll also be less likely to be disappointed with your seats if you are able to get reserved seating in a small venue than the free ticket stands at the fairground. Fairgrounds also have a lot of dust and particulate crap in the air.

On the other hand, if you are going with a good, old, close buddy (not a date) who is also a Loafster, I might consider the fairgrounds because of the road trip. The trek to the concert with the car stuffed with unmentionable goodies and the opportunity to talk about the concert and other alternatively meaningful and hilarious bullshit on the way back is priceless. I heard Larry King do a riff on an old road trip he and some childhood buddies made to get scoops of Caravel ice cream for a dime a piece at some Caravel shop in Jersey. You should be going for the same sentiment if you choose the fairgrounds and you'll have a good time.

Either way, the Loafsters in the audience will be a classic mix of little old ladies, real estate agents, and kids whose parents made them go. You'll also run into some Steinman fans who will complain and sulk throughout the whole show because Meat only mentions the name of his songwriter two or three times and fails to announce before the show that he sucks and Jim is god. You should be able to deduct the cost of the concert as research for your next stand up gig and if you don't have fun and enjoy the whole spectacle than you truly suck and I pity you.
