"Non-disclosure agreements" are a surprising ally, I've found. It means you aren't allowed to talk about things you didn't really want to talk about anyway. :)

BTW listening to BBC news in the UK you would barely know there was anyone running for president besides Obama! I find US politics a little obscene, a little disgusting, a little uncivilised, with all the politicians shouting speeches obnoxiously (as though they were selling at a market stall) at a crowd of whooping and yelling people.
