That's the trouble with being a deity: you set one bush ablaze to motivate the faithful, and they start expecting fireworks every other Thursday.

There is negativism, Jim, but I think your silence has been the largest catalyst of it. Did you spoil us with all the interaction of 2006? Yes, most likely. And then the drought set in. And the cynicism. God est tot, no? But still we come to the temple, brother, still we pray, if only just a little. Blow a layer of dust off the altar and set our folded palms to it, hopefully, and in spite of our doubts and better judgment. We still come, and we're still here. Here for you.

"Once upon a time we had hope in our hearts.
The world was as fresh and as bright as you please.
The promise of life was a gift from the gods,
we worshipped so blindly, never a thought
to the damage we do, in the end
to our knees."

And yes, Sarah Palin comes off as a vindictive, malevolent skank, better suited to be a Sith apprentice (Darth Palin!) than a VP to a 72 year-old president. Her look and entire demeanor are so cartoonish that the folks at SNL must have been licking their chops and creaming their faded Levis when she was announced as McCain's pick.
