All of them have flaws and I view them all differently with hindsight. I don;t agree with the poor production on dead ringer, steinman and iovine did the basic tracks and the musicians are first rate. Its a very different album but I think one of the most underrated rock albums of all time. It also has some of the best rock bass playing I've heard and I'm gonna love her is probably in my top 3 steinman songs. BFG has an air of too many people involved but the underlying songs are superb. Bat 2 will always be special to me as it came out when I met my wife, but it perhaps doesn't stand the test of time as much as the others. I agree with your flat vocals comment - none of the 'covers' improve on the originals in my view So at the moment by a very short margin, Dead Ringer for me, just ahead of BFG (but I do switch them around) > Aha you're thinking there is only 1 .
