Heh, no it was just to reinforce the fact that this had more of the resonance of a working men's club than a rock concert taking place in a theatre. There wasn't anything grandiose or ecstatic or feverish about it. No presence. No majesty. I've seen a fair few rock bands and this didn't have that feel at all.

Have to say, I do agree with you. I was pleasantly surprised that he wasn't dressed in full Loaf regalia and trying to be American although there were inevitably a lot of Loafisms in terms of his stage moves (which is to be expected, especially in Paradise). It would have been a lot worse if he was wearing a wig and a frilly shirt. There just wasn't any passion or dignity in his performance, was the big sticking point. I dunno, it was just all a bit soulless - karaoke - rather rather living and breathing the music. Just didn't get the feel of sincerity behind his delivery. It felt more like a *parody* than a tribute is the crux of it, I suppose.

For me, he didn't get the music right. But hey, it's just my opinion. What do I know?! lol.

The band were okay, credit where it's due. The rhythm guitarist (?) was rather good as rhythm guitarists go! lol! :-)

Don't like to be down on people, but this was a huge disappointment to me when it's something I'm so passionate about - Jim's music.
