Fairly miopic perspective - there's a whole world out there without the benefit of star-spangled specs to view the world through. Fact is, Iran is now one of the more stable countries in the midd-east. U.S. foreign policy has a lot to do with that. Other nations have had some sucess in curtailing the immineent nuclear threat that they pose - not that fox will be reporting that - they'll probably still be bashing the French for supporting international law. Abortion is just an issue that whilst it is emotive issue doesn't touch the lives of the majority. I find it sick that it is being used as a political football with little regard for the difficulties faced by those actually having to deal with such a horrendous issue. Fact is you will never truly know where you stand until you experience the pain of such a decision personally, but the neo-con argument seems to us fear of 'babykillers' in our midst in a similar way as the terrorist threat - everyone scaered of the Arab in the street etc.... in order gain the nescessary public support to hijack Iraqi oil fields. You do realise that the U.S., U.K., French, Germans and Russians sold chem/bio miliatary technology to Saddam both after and with full knowledge of the Kurdish atrocity at Hallabja? Many the current hierachy signed the dispatch papers but then use it as a justification for invasion conveniently after Enron expose deficciencies in the U.S. energy markets. All politicians are crooks but it takes the worst kind of flag waving, most blinkered, nationalistically motivated moron not to see the current republican movement a threat to world peace and your OWN national security. If those crooks get another goon in power then it will be a terrible day for the prospect of world peace, equitable living and the environment. By the way - the state of your economy under the present regieme has sparked a major issue in world markets - something the democrats managed to avoid and despite their percieved weaknesses in national security they managed to avoid terrorist attacks on U.S. soil also. Apart from political rhetoric, what makes you believe that things would get any worse? Large defence budgets have little to do with homeland security and a lot to do with keeping your cronies in the armaments business donating to expensive presidential election campaings. > I'm against abortion.
