I think there would be many musicians who would disagree with your "willing hands" arguement. In so much that the record industry is a voracious beast that rips off the public, and exploits the musician until he's no longer the cash cow.
Then said musician has years of court room fights for whats legally his, dispite holding out his willing hands.
