Look at the Top 40 of both the US and UK charts, take away rappers, hip-hop, metal and any other shitarsed acts, what you've then got left over are people who can actually sing, then pick one of them.
If Jim's wanting success with his songs then he's going to have to find someone who can make the song big and not necessarily someone who has the vocals that fits perfect for the song. Which is why Rob Evan (cue Smeg) although a nice voice, wouldn't have made a song big.
