I disagree that the Dead Ringer cover is a parody of "The Raft of the Medusa." I think it's just a parody of heavy metal album art in general, just like the "Bat Out of Hell" painting. "Bad For Good" is an obvious riff on "Barbarella," though, and "Bat II" mashes up the original "Bat" with "King Kong" to pleasing effect.

Two paintings that always reminded me of Steinman are Draper's "The Lament for Icarus" ("I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell!") and Cot's "The Storm" ("You can hide away forever from the storm, but you'll never hide away from me!").
