| Smeg... he didn't say that at all... He just said he was going to be a fan of Meat for ever... regardless of his bad voice now... that does not merit such sarcasm in my opinion. I have to admit... that though I am not sure I would pay that much to see him in concert again... many happy memories are linked to Meat, some of the songs he sang, concerts, etc. I will always be a fan... even though I don't always agree with the things he does or the way he does them. For me to go see Meat again would have to imply a totally different touring schedule... where he doesn't alternate outdoor and indoor venues... or travels from cold to hot to cold places in a short space of time... like he did this tour. Also, I don't think it is necessary for a fan to agree with everythings his or her idol says or does. I also don't think it is necessary for a fan to drop an idol the moment he or she does something 'stupid or unfair'. I have always been very annoyed by people who take their idol's successes as personal tributes, or who take personal offence in the offences commited towards their idols. So what if Jim screwed Meat in the past. So what if Meat screwed him back. Let the guys fight it out themselves. It is nothing to me personally who is right here and who is wrong, I have no close personal relationship to either. And though I too at times have thought 'was that really necessary?? Is that really the image you want us to have of you??' I have no real reason to be personally insulted by the fact that one guy I admire sued another guy I admire...... That said, I consider myself more of a Jimfan than a Loafer... For me, Meat has been fantastic performer of Jims songs... and though I do enjoy quite a few non-Jim songs... Jim lead me to Meat, and not the other way around. I think it is possible to admire Jim for the songs and Meat for the performance. And I don't feel that this is unfair to either. I also don't think either one of them really cares, considering how I am absolutely not that important......... I wish both guys all the best... not in the least because I look forward to hearing and seeing more of their masterpieces... K. | |
