I met Meat Loaf once at an NYC Tower Records autograph signing (pre-Bat II) and he was really nice. The girls at the counter were all over him.

I met him again when my friend Amy got an audition to sing on the Bat II tour. This was the summer before Bat II came out. She asked me, rabid fan that I am, to appear as her manager (I did actually end up managing her later, oddly enough). We walked into the studio and were very surprised to see Meat, Leslie and the whole touring band. Meat Loaf was like "HI! I'M MEAT LOAF!" (No shit, dude! :) ) He intoduced "Leslie" and I said, politely, "Mrs. Loaf?" She laughed and said yes.

Everyone was really nice, my friend sang through Easy to be Hard and Paradise by the Dashboard Light, and Meat Loaf was very complimentary and said she reminded him of Karla! She didn't get the gig (for one thing, she was only 20), but it was a great experience.

Then, that Christmas, I saw Meat and one of his daughters in the Atlanta airport. I went up & congratulated him on the success of Bat II and said "you probably don't remember me..." but he did! Neat.

I nearly met Jim at the Whistle Down the Wind premiere, but a certain someone steered me away before I could, assuming I'd met him already & wanting to spare him from a throng of fans. Like Sally, who spent all night waiting for the Great Pumpkin, I demand restitution!
