| Pud, Ross Jeffries should appeal to your sense of humor. He's a converstaional hypnotist who teaches men to seduce women... or at least charges them for instruction on the subject. Here's a YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3k4tuZPGM0s&feature=related Once you've stopped laughing your ass off, consider that the idea is that words are triggers for neural pathways in the brain that carry emotional responses in addition to the meaning we ascribe to them consciously. If, through misdirection, ambiguous phrases and cliches, zen riddles, rhythmic pacing and puns, the hypnotist can preoccupy or distract the conscious mind, then he is free to stimulate the emotional responses of the subconscious mind without understanding, analysis, or the typical repression or defense mechanisms. I think this may be an interesting alternative to how we understand and talk about songwriting in general and Jim's achievements in particular. I'm thinking of writing a series of posts on NLP and Steinman's works, but I'm not a speed seducer or a hypnotist, so it might take a bit of learning on my part first. -=John Galt=- > > Compare Jim Steinman's brilliant Surf's Up with Ross > > Jeffries Blow Job Pattern! > > Who the hell is Ross Jeffries? | |
