| The first public showing of TdV in Oberhausen is on Tuesday and some of us are in Cologne now in preparation for the big day. We're in Cologne 'cos it's full of places to visit and see and be merry in, whereas Oberhausen's top attraction is the gasometer. I kid you not. Julie and I managed to sleep through the alarm this morning, so we left nearly an hour late. The early morning roads were covered in flora from above and fauna running in from the sides. We did get to the ferry on time, despite one member of said fauna making a particularly persistent attempt at bunnycide. In Germany we drove past a strangely named place called "Wankum". Who says the Germans have no sense of humour? We resisted the urge to visit the place to see if the road signs leaving the town said "Please come again". Apparently there's a local brew (see below) but for some reason it's not that popular elsewhere ... In the evening we met up with Hennie and Will (Dr Rock) who, against all expectations, managed to find us a restaurant less than a brisk 2 hour walk from the hotel. That's about it so far; more tomorrow when most of the rest of the steinfans join us. Dave ![]() | |
