There's no evidence of that. My understanding is they couldn't find a way to get Polanski on board so they settled for second. In that event, WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE was A) Hired Harold Prince because he's a brilliant and experienced director and B) Jim had a score to settle with him as well.

Jim wanted to put more of a

There's still no evidence of that. I personally think Jim was advised by Sonenberg and his entourage.
