| The stuff they did before Paul O'Neill came aboard as producer ("Hall of the Mountain King") isn't all that. It's fairly straight-forward metal (or an misguided attempt at commercial hair metal with "Fight for the Rock"), and with some exceptions, not all that notable. Starting with Mountain King, they used more symphonic influences, the songwriting and production became better (with O'Neill's input) ... but since 1998 they've just released one album, and since 2002, they seem to be in a TSO-generated limbo. Which is a same, cause Savatage does almost the same to me as Jim's music does. > I think Savatage are great, especially the Paul O'Neill > stuff. | |
