| Thanks guys for the kind comnments. I am on the mend. I also had pneumonia about 5 years ago and this time it was diagnosed and treated earlier, so it's not been as bad on the whole. The hospital stay was only overnight, and I was out about 30 hours after I went in. For the most part, hospital wasn't that bad - nice comfy bed with lots of buttons to press, decent food, friendly helpful nurses, and everything done efficiently. The bed even had a TV/internet thing, but I was happy just to rest. Oh, and a particular plus was that since I had to drink a lot (I was dehydrated when I went in) my bed was the one closest to the toilet only a few steps away. LOL. Drinking loads of water, and having diuretics in one's system (part of my blood pressure medication) meant a visit every 20 minutes overnight ... I have to mention that the other patients were a good laugh too, though some didn't realise it. One in particular haqd a habit of calling for a nurse (but not *quite* loud enough for them to hear). Bit daft as he had a call button to use anyway. He'd call for about 10 minutes till one did eventually hear him, by which time he'd forgotten what he called for. LOL Oh, and the guy in the bed next to me had to have been at least 90, and was basically skeleton plus skin, but still managed to get about pretty quickly with his walking frame. Still bright mentally too - very sharp. Lovely guy. Deaf as a coot, mind, which didn't help at feeding time. Worse thing this time has been the lack of sleep on account of waking myself up with a coughing fit within minutes of falling asleep. It was like this for about a week, so by yesterday I'd only managed about 1 hour's sleep in 1 week. I'd have happily killed to be able to sleep for a while. Fortunately I did manage a couple hours or so, so today I no longer feel like a zombie. Dave > Dave, that sucks. Hope you have a speedy recovery and all > that. | |
