That was unforgiveable (even minor changes) and I'm surprised Jim allowed it.
Even Meat mishearing 'cell' in Cry To Heaven. If ya gonna do someone else's song (that they don't want you to do) at least have the decency to read/learn the lyrics.
I got the impression that Jim just couldn't be bothered to argue the toss (over lyrics) after all the Bat 3 legal hassle.

Desmond can sound 'vacant' sometimes (especially that chat with Todd), but I think he's worth millions, so go figure.
