The Dream Engine didn't have the same commercial potential as Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical. It might have had a better chance if all the performers were young. With Bat The Musical, it's okay to have a mixture of different ages.

Also, all the songs are already famous, at a time when shows like Momma Mia and We Will Rock You are doing very well in the West End. Much better than musicals with new music like Gone With The Wind and Lord Of The Rings (both of them crahsed). Although Wicked is doing very well (so Bat will not be opening at the Victoria Apollo).

But the comparison between Dream Engine and Bat The Musical is awkward. They are two really different things.

I think that people on this board would believe in it if Jim and the producers hadn't decided to keep things secret. I hope they start to publisize the show soon, instead of keeping silent until the tickets go on sale.

It was very embarrassing when they announced that Steven Clarke was doing the book and then he quit. It is things like that which made them decide to keep things a secret.
