Jim doesn't have to worry about his script for Bat Out Of Hell The Musical. It is already a hundred times better than the scripts for successful shows (like We Will Rock You) and a thousand times better than the scripts for new shows coming into the West End at the moment. Yesterday a musical called Blok Busta (about the Glam era) opened and the reviewer from The Times gave it one star out of five. This is an extract from the review: "It's 1975, Glamsville, and the town is being stalked by a psycho called Busta. He murders his victims by playing them disco music, then scatters cornflakes over the corpse - he's a cereal killer, geddit? A witless mix of overamplified spoof songs, camp characters and idiotic plot, it owes plenty to Saucy Jack And The Space Vixens, itself the spawn of the far superior Rocky Horror Show. So it's nothing if not derivative - but that would matter less were it executed with more panache." | |
