ALW is referring to an idea he an author came up with called "The Phantom of Manhattan". Basically, it takes place a couple years after Christine has become a famous and wealthy Opera singer. Erik (aka The Phantom)learns from Madame Giry that Christine had a son in the states, and that the child is the Phantom's. Thus ensues the Phantom to travel to New York. If he can't have Christine as a wife he will settle for his son's companionship.

Personally....eh, I hope they really don't cheapen the original with a sequel. It's like those Disney Cinderella movies all of a sudden having three parts. It cheapens the original. Erik obsessed over Christine and despite his loneliness, he sacrificed his happiness for Christine's. For Erik to pursue once again is ...well, ALW might as well just drop trow and plop a deuce out on the original then.
