I was watching a Meat Loaf tour documentary called "In Search Of Paradise" and Kasim Sulton (the guitarist who works with Jim, Meat and Todd) said that the most important song in any Meat Loaf concert is Paradise By The Dashboard Light. He said it is the only song that Meat Loaf always includes. Which surprised me because I can't imagine a Meat Loaf concert without the song Bat Out Of Hell. As far as popularity in the UK, I think the greatest Jim song is Total Eclipse Of The Heart. At the moment it is being used for two commercials. The first is the drumming Gorilla who is selling chocolate ad and the second is a kareoke ad for Playstation 3 which shows 12 people trying to sing TEOTH and the last person is so awful that she breaks the camera lense with her voice. It keeps cropping up all over the place. They used it in Big Brother when they had a 24 hour test in which housemates had to take turns constantly singing it. Also, the only female manager of a UK football team, Karen Brady, (I think she manages Sheffield), appeared on Desert Island Discs to pick the eight songs she would take to a desert island. Two were Jim songs. Anything For Love and TEOTH. When asked which of the eight she would choose if she could only bring one, she answered TEOTH. | |
