NJC...Piano Dampening

Hey guys, I need your help….
Do any of you piano players know of any really tricky ways of dampening a piano for live performance?

I have been put in charge of a small 130 seat, tightly confined lounge/theatre that has a string of cabaret acts performing over the next 3 months. The boss has presented me with a brand new Yamaha piano that is intended to be used for the cabaret acts but has proven it’s self to be way too bright.
I have a few ideas how I could go about it but the piano will be on the stage and my ideas aren’t too aesthetically pleasing from an audience’s point of view. Just wondering if any if you guys have any ideas.

Cheers
Jaycee
