To be fair on Desmond Child and I don't think anyone could have produced Bat 3 (and replicate Jim's style) as Jim is unique. I think Child compromised his normal style slighlty (trying to copy Jim) and therefore compromised the whole project. If they had just done a rock record with a different title, it would have been viewed a lot differently (but 'Cry Over Me' would still have sucked). NB - Been listening a lot to Bonnie's 'Notes From America' album lately (produced by Desmond) and have a new found appreciation, especially for 'Sreets of Little Italy' which is a great song, with a great vocal from Bonnie, a great featured vocal from Desmond, and some real nice piano. | |
