It would be fantastic if Bat could have the same kind of success as Tanz in the German market. One problem is the lyrics. I think the original Tanz lyrics were German but it would be difficult to translate Jim's Bat lyrics. A German sentence is much longer than an English one. A true translation of Jim's lyrics would not fit the melody. Also, Jim's Bat lyrics are very witty and they have a fantasy feel to them. I think there would be a danger that the wit and the fantasy could be lost in the translation. However, the book could be in German. The book doesn't present the same problems. Do you think the show could have a German book but English lyrics? | |
