| To be honest, when was the last time Jim tried to get a hit? The last album he wrote and produced (purely as a record, rather than a musical) was Bat 2 - a massive hit. The last album he did a jobbing producer role on was Celine Dion's - a massive hit, and his song was the main single. No Matter What turned out to be a massive hit, but only as a reault of WDTW, and since then all his projects have really been theatre based. He hasn't really TRIED to have a hit single in years. As far a 7 minute plus song goes - it would be edited down for a single release. Just like Bat, Total Eclipse, Anything For Love were. You could have a full version available as a download, on the CD single, or on the album - but you'd have an edited 4-5 minute version for the radio, so the length wouldn't be a problem. I don't want shite-arsed remixed techno bollocks either. That's EXACTLY what I'm arguing against. I want a great Steinman song, sung by a great singer (not Simon Cowell's latest 5-minute flash in the pan), with a good arrangement and production (not necessarily by Jim, as he's fucked up on that score before now). If he goes with reality TV/ Simon Cowell/ Any Dream Will Do style bollocks, then all we'll get is a shitty watered down version of his vision. Is that really what we all want? > Can you remember the last time Jim had a hit?
