As they said in Avenue Q, "Ethnic Jokes might be uncouth, but you laugh because they're based on truth"... Stereotypes are usually sterotypes for a reason... but more importantly... You should be able to have a laugh at something inappropriate without being a horrible person. Was Mel Brooks an anti Semite because he wrote Springtime for Hitler? Some thin skinned asshole at the premier of the producers got up and announced that that was offensive and tried to walk out... Mel Brooks met him at the door and blocked his exit and asked him what the problem was and the guy said that he was in World War II and that this wasn't funny and Brooks responded "Really? I was in World War II and I didn't see you there."
In other words... get a sense of humor.
