Actually, I find myself having to agree with you Marvello.

Both Pudding and Smeg have contributed an awful lot to the Stein community and for that I'm sure we're all grateful (I know I am at least!) But they do have a tendency to victimise people on this board (admittedly sometimes with genuine provocation like Susan etc) and dominate threads with their personal issues with other posters. This is meant to be an open forum, and while there are some trolls who deliberately cause trouble and fill the board with rubbish, it's gotten to the stage where some people feel they can't raise an objection to anything for fear of Pudding and Smeg turning on them (me included!).

I've been on the board/mailing list since 1997. I don't have a personal problem with either of them, (mostly because I don't know them personally!) but can you do it in private guys, please? I normally keep my head down and only post about on-topic stuff, but I log on every day to nothing but pages and pages of bitching, going round and round in circles, and it's not in any way constructive criticism or healthy debate. There are a lot of personal insults and 'low blows' and it doesn't create an atmosphere in which other posters feel they can express a dissenting opinion. Not saying everyone should all get along and agree on everything, but there's a respectful way of expressing an opinion, you know?! If you've made yourself look worse than the original poster, then you've undermined your credibility and your argument already.

I get it - we're all frustrated at the lack of news and on-topic conversation, but filling the board with personal attacks and accusations is just degrading and reflects badly on us as a community. When the Bat musical does get off the ground (and until we're told otherwise I'm going to assume it will), this site will no doubt get a lot more traffic, including journalists. What do we want them to find here? How are we going to be portrayed? And surely we want new fans to find a welcoming, respectful fan community?

And yes, the comments about "window-dribblers" was just plain offensive, no matter how you try to justify it (and this is from someone who likes anti-PC humour like Ricky Gervais etc). Just go and watch Stewart Lee's routine about people misappropriating the phrase "Political Correctness Gone Mad"! That phrase is why I finally feel compelled to speak up, in fact. C'mon - surely we're better than that?!

There's a very effective method of discouraging trolls that doesn't fill the board with constant arguments: ignore them. Like any bullies, they want a reaction - so don't give it to them.

Pud, Smeg - I'm sorry guys, I have nothing personal against either of you, this is purely about this forum and a polite request to take the personal issues elsewhere.

- Danny.
