I have just seen a new advert which uses Jim's music. It is by the Charities Commission and they are basically asking people to remember charities in their wills. It starts off with a lawyer reading a chap's will to his family. He has left them some money but he has also left money to his favourite charities. At the end of the meeting, the lawyer tells the family that there is one last thing in the will. Then they cut to a coffin being carried into a church. There is a large Harley Davidson resting on top of the coffin. The church organ starts playing an instrumental version of BOOH the song. It sounds like Jim and Bach got together for a collaboration. Then a voice asks us to remember charities in our wills. There are now three commercials using Jim's music in the UK alone. This one, Playstation 3 and Cadbury's Chocolate. Different Jim songs are played all over the place. I am assuming that the situation is similar in the United States (wasn't there a mobile phone ad featuring PBDL recently?). In Australia, BOOH is the best selling album of all time. And he has had success with both Tanz and WDTW. Surely Jim should be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Perhaps we could start an email campaign to the powers that control it. Maybe David Sonenburg could start the campaign off. Demanding that Jim is officially recognised for his contribution to music and culture. | |
