Yeah, I'd agree - it's not their best song by a mile. BUT, it's just smile-making to see somebody doing such an accurate and affectionate parody.
Also it seems to me that only real Steinman fans - somebody who's listened to "Nowhere Fast" and "Carpe Noctem" and all those songs - would have written in THIS Jim-style as opposed to aping the more epic, power-ballady Meat Loaf stuff.
