Here in the 'States, Guitar Hero began its second wind a year or two ago with the phenomenon of Guitar Hero parties in dorm rooms and apartments across the country... and then it began moving to parks and shopping malls.

That's the aspect that impressed me. It's the most social video game I've ever seen. Forget the internet, if you have two guitars and some fliers, your liable to get real people of all types showing up to be crowned the Guitar Hero of your competition. And usually, it's not just guys. Girls show up with some pretty good axe grinding skills, too.

I'm not a gamer, but I'm very interested in computer games as a pop phenomenon and have written here that Jim should be involved in the creative side of things before. I think pretty much everyone's idea in computer games is the kind of Heroic-But-Funny that Jim pulls off so well. Dark and obsessive seem to work, too.

Anyway, I think Justin Jobin agreed with me, but we haven't heard much from Jim on the subject.
