I'm still trying and I appreciate the ongoing interest. In addition to the two songs I've posted, now have another 7 at various stages, and getting the lyrics 'just right' in my own mind is difficult! Getting a lot of inspiration from Dark Knight as opposed to the other films. Still sketchy but here's a little taster: 'Welcome to my Sturm und Drang' This song introduces Joker & his crew early in Act 1 (probably scene 2). A Halloween Ball is being hosted by a seedy & unscrupulous property developer (is there any other type?), loosely based on Donald Trump LoL (this character later teams up with the Joker and develops a vicious alter ego 'The Butcher'). He is announcing the soon to be opened largest skyscraper in the world (this building is involved in the plot line and finale), and all of Gotham high society is present including Bruce Wayne, Selena Kyle & Commissioner Gordon. As the party progresses Joker & his crew gatecrash and take control. Joker addresses the crowd from the band stage in a sarcastic & menacing tone: 'we've come to collect for a worthy cause...ME!' 'All donations gratefully accepted, so pleeease be generous' His crew start moving amongst the crowd pulling rings from fingers, earings from ears, and pistol whipping the men. As a goodwill gesture Joker offers up a song and turns to the terrified jazz band on stage and pointing a gun shouts 'In C' (to indicate the key). Miraculously they somehow know the tune and Joker performs 'Welcome to my Sturm und Drang', an uptempo cabaret number...'you know I just hate to harangue, but welcome to my Sturm und Drang!' As the robbery continues a goon rips pearls from Selena Kyle's neck and she retaliates by gouging deep scratches in his face. She is then promptly thrown over a balcony but manages to hang on for dear life (later rescued by Bruce Wayne in the scene that follows). As the robbery and song ends Joker approaches Commissioner Gordon, and inches from his face challenges: 'You seen enough? You think you've seen it all? You 'aint see nothing yet!' (the latter becomes Jokers recurring catchphrase throughout). Joker and his crew then disappear into the night. This is what I'm thinking as I write, but it could all change. LoL. | |
