| Picking up guitar |

Ive been thinking about learning to play the guitar. Nothing too serious, just a casual learning experience. Could any musicians on here suggest a cheap but good guitar (Im a poor college graduate after all) and maybe a good "learn to play" dvd or booklet? Maybe Guitar for idiots guide or something. I have absolutely no knowledge of how music works so any advice is appreciated.
Thanks for any opinions. Ill dedicate my first hit to all of you on the board, lol.
