I have a somewhat jaded appetite for the Thriller album, on account of this unfortunate incident: The soon-to-be-Mrs-Dave and I were moving all her stuff from her house to our first house together. I borrowed the largest van I could, but even so it meant 2 return trips of about 8 hours each over a weekend. So we set off and stuffed the first cassette (Thriller) into the player. When it finished, the damn player refused to eject the tape, meaning we couldn't change tapes and couldn't even put the radio on. So after a while of listening to the engine droning away, we opted for a second dose of Thriller. When we arrived at Julie's old house we'd heard quite enough of Thriller. I set about the tape player with a screwdriver, but still couldn't persuade it to release its grip on MJ's finest. So we had another 12 hours of driving with nothing else to listen to. Believe me, after 16 hours of that you'd never want to listen to the thing again! And to add insult to injury, the moment I parked the van up when I returned it the following day, the tape ejected itself at considerable speed to the back of the cab.
