I'm not sure. On the one hand, part of me believes that Jim is better suited to do the kind of arena/cabaret show you describe. I understand that Jim wants to do musical theater, but his DotV script kind of seemed like just another effort to integrate a lot of cool, but disparate stuff. This is the Frankensong syndrom applied to crafting a story/libretto. I'm also a little resentful of the musical theater stuff because I think Jim has been trying to do that for the last decade and a half when I think he could have been giving us albums of awesome recordings instead of working with all the rediculous characters necessary to do a stage production. I mean, I'm impressed that he's willing to do what it takes, but I'm greedy for new recordings.

On the other hand, I haven't seen a lot of Jim's efforts in storycraft for the stage, so he could be really great and, at any rate, someone else would technically be involved in the scriptwriting. An arena show like you describe sounds like a great vehicle for Meat Loaf in Europe, but I'm not sure that he could fill the seats in the United States. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that Jim Steinman's "Bat Out of Hell" the arena show would be a risky venture at this time -- I'm just not sure it would draw the ticket sales. There's the potential to make extroadinary amounts of money in the type of show you describe, but there's also that upside in a succesful West End show. The West End show can have better quality control and, theoretically, it can rock, too.
