| Part of what he is doing is negotiating a new contract for Paula that will earn her significantly more money. Just as crucially, he is using the public negotiation to increase his own visibility within the industry. Probably, he'll loose Paula the best gig she's ever going to get given her age and condition and general lack of talent because American Idol's producers may very well call his bluff, but his willing to take risks with her career will impress some people. It's just an opinion, but I still think he calls himself a "manager" in order to escape NY and California's cap on the percentage of artist's income an agent may receive per contract. His services seem to clearly fall under the definition of procuring work for his clients and negotiating contracts. He wouldn't be the first to use relationships within the industry to suck talent dry for a living, but I still wish we would have gotten Meat Loaf on board to file an action with the department of labor and the bar association before the statute ran. I also think he may have been involved in breaking up the dynamic duo, like some social networking version of Yoko Ono, and I doubt that he's pushing his roster of clients to cover Jim Steinman songs these days. Smeg has also mentioned some things that make me think he didn't really help get Jim through the DotV fiasco gently and without scars. -=John Galt=- ... and I'm all for freedom of K, but > Just read a story on CNN about how Paula Abdul is not > expected to return to American Idol.
