If people are going to avoid posting at the risk of offending someone, and if people are going to be offended by a subject being raised that they are particularly sensitive to, then there won't be any more posts.

I've lost relatives a whole lot closer than "a best friend of my brother", and a whole lot more recently than your loss. Even so I'm not in any way offended by any posts of jokes about someone's death. Reading such a post might remind me of a death, and might make me a little sad, but it's totally unrealistic to expect people to avoid making such posts.

There's humour everywhere, and much of it wouldn't be humour if it didn't carry the risk of offending someone. There have been funny moments even at funerals I've attended. It's all part of life, and death, and you should accept that if not embrace it.
