I'm an atheist intelectually, but I really would LIKE to believe that there is a higher power of some sort. Emotionally, I do take the time to thank God for all kinds of things, as simple as a beautiful day. I'm not trying to hedge my bets; if there's a God, I can't fool Him into thinking I was a believer just because I prayed. I just figure, since there MIGHT be a God, it can't hurt to say thank you now and again.

Here's my question: Is "belief" an absolute? ie: is anything less than absolute certainty DISbelief? And if belief IS an absolute, mustn't "disbelief" also be an absolute, and so anything less than an absolute certainty that there is no god therefore equals belief in God?

The mind boggles.
