Disagree. I'd find it pretty annoying having a new tab/window every time I clicked on a message link. Much better as it is IMO, and as the evil guy below says you can navigate back to the previous message with ALT+LEFT (I use that a lot).
What I would like are:
- a means of editing messages once posted
- ability to embed youtube videos
