I understand where you're coming from Smeg.

Unfortunately, I'm not entirely convinced that the show won't be a Jukebox musical or cabaret-style spectacular when all is said and done.

I'm sure I'll fly to London to see the show regardless of whether it is the Neverland re-envisioned you are anticipating or a concert with theatrical dressing. I can understand why you'd prefer the former -- particularly because of your longstanding interest and direct experience in theater. I'm not sure Jim is all that opposed to the idea of an extravaganza, though, and he's working with a team who may not share your esthetic sensibility... or his for that matter.

At the end of the day, Bat Out of Hell (the album) was an incredible acheivement and is aged perfectly to attract people who are old enough to buy expensive theater tickets. A lot of big hits on the West End involve attracting people through sentiment for their musical youth or a different time in their life when music still mattered. Revivals tap into a similar vein: Grease, Mama Mia, Fame, etc, etc.

Note: you make a good point about niching different marketing to the hardcore theater crowd. I'm hardly an expert in this area and may be completely misunderstanding the strategy and reasoning behind the approach. Whatever the case, I'm just happy to see some signs of life.
