Like himn or not, the Loaf worked himself to a breakdown to "make" BOOH after Jim created it. Meat told everybody to hitch on to his engine because he was taking BOOH to the top & he did it. He had the stage presence and the gift of gab (even when BS) to make it larger than life. His look became iconic in a day when most rock stars looked like stick men. His charisma and knowledge of stage performance got tons of attention. Jim just did not have the voice or those other qualities at least not to the degree Meat does. That is no slag on Jim, just their differences. Yin and Yang. Meat couldn't write good songs or add the other elements like theatrical style of music that Jim did either. It was a perfect pairing music wise. No need to trash either guy. I too agree that Jim needs to get out there if he still wants to, I know it is tempting to make a good living off the old stuff and collect royalties but he still has "new" stuff like WPOMBHTM that needs to be heard. That song done with Jim's production and given promotion would be gigantic. I think if the musical comes to pass Jim & Meat should record it and use it to promote the musical - taking advantage of Meat's periperal presence without having him directly involved, but giving him something for his presence with a likely hit if it can get played properly on radio or tv. | |
